So to add to the madhouse called "my life," I've taken-up another degree program -- my fourth. That said, I like to have a simple one page calendar to keep track of my life. I've gotten into printing multiple pages on one sheet using Adobe Acrobat's printing features.
With all of the blogs I read (I HIGHLY recommend lifehacker.com), I came across this technique to fold a single page into eighths (1 long and 4 short folds) and then create a "slit" along the long fold between two of the shorter interior folds. Sorry that was the best verbal explanation I could give.
Anyway, the tricky part is to create the 8 pages necessary to print in just the right orientation to make this work. So here are the steps needed:
(1) Printout 4 months in outlook with the side-by-side monthly style (2 pages = 1 month) (UPDATE: make sure this is in portrait mode, NOT landscape) using the Adobe PDF print driver. (I haven't tried PDFCreator or other open source version, sorry).
(2) Rotate the first 4 pages 180 degrees using Document->Rotate Pages
(3) Swap page 5 with 6.
(4) Swap page 7 with 8.
(5) Move 5/6 to the end to effectively swap 5/6 with 7/8.
(6a) Click the Printer Icon. Under "Page Handling" selection "Multiple Pages per sheet" page scaling.
(6b) Select "Custom" pages per sheet, entering: 2x4
(6c) Select "Vertical" page order, and make sure "Auto-Rotate Pages" is checked.
(7) Print. It should look like the attached image.
(8) Cut along the red line on the print-out, and fold a "tricky way." Sorry but "tricky way" is about all you get from this one. The finished product resembles a small 1/8 of a letter sized book that allows you to turn to various views of the 4 months.
QED.
