I am almost done with my MBA in Finance, and have 2 classes that both incorporate online games as part of the class (BSG-Online and Stocktrak).
I'll let you know how those go, but given the recent market conditions, my well-thought-out fundamental analysis doesn't mean jack, but given my strategy is value for the long term, the recent conditions don't really matter except that now is the time to buy.
That said, these are awesome tools to learn with as they come with their own built-in safeguards. One year I played a virtual stock game and the guys that played a mixture of stocks and options beat us by 10x. I still need to learn how to do that!
Anyway, while reading through my daily blogs I came across this online game that is free to play presented by the Young Entrepreneur Foundation.
It is called Johnny Money Online and can be found here. We teach our kids with games, so why can't we learn with games. The US Treasury just put out a game to teach you (not YOU, but, well... you know who you are... ahem) about the basics of maintaining good credit. That link is at the Bad Credit Hotel.
I'll keep you posted, and likewise, please.
(UPDATE: for our resent results, we placed 67th for ROE among the 5,000+ teams playing!)
